Shangri La Center for Islamic Arts and Culture: Built in 1938, Shangri La was once the home of heiress Doris Duke. The Islamic-style mansion sits on five acres overlooking the Pacific Ocean and Diamond Head. It is now a museum and arts and cultures center. A Playhouse, pool and various indoor and outdoor spaces such as courtyards, lanais, terraces and gardens, accompanies the 14,000-square-foot house. Today, Shangri La is considered one of Hawaii's most architecturally significant homes.
