Not often seen 2008 Squier Vintage Modified Stratocaster. This was the first year of the Vintage Modified Series and it differs from any year after. This first year was Made in India and they have the smaller 50s/60s headstock shape. After 2008 this series was made in Indonesia. This has an Indian Cedar body which was only done this year as well. It’s a solid wood and the guitar has some weight to it with beautiful grain and finish work. These are already sought by some and I previously had a white one I modified extensively and sold for $550 on reverb- this guitar though is bone stock. These have generic but quality sealed tuners and bridge stock. Very nice fit and finish. Also stock it has (Seymour) Duncan Designed pickups with cloth wiring and full size pots.
The neck has some depth to it with a glossy finish, feels great. Rosewood fretboard with nice grain to it. The frets are in excellent shape. This guitar has pretty low action and plays nicely. When I had it opened up all the electronics were serviced with electronic cleaner. I also oiled the fretboard. Its condition overall is good. The body has some mild dings, very small but at 15 years of age it’s in very nice shape. I’d place this against a MIM strat and I think most would prefer this one, but you are welcome to see for yourself. This guitar is all stock, the candy apple red body with red pearl pickguard was only done during this 1 year most of these produced were sunburst or white.
These pickups sound great and it’s a nice guitar that needs absolutely nothing. As said it’s been fully serviced November 3rd, new GHS Boomers , fretboard clean and fret polish, all electronics cleaner with electronic spray to insure proper function years to come.
