Anyone interested in working on a political transparency project?

Looking for volunteers to help me with a political transparency project. The goal is to start with California and hopefully grow to other states.

Essentially, I want us to create a database of legislation, summarize it for non-lawyers (I.E. The general public), and list who voted in favor of these laws and who voted against them. We will be looking at the California State Assembly, Senate, and, eventually, move on to the Judiciary.

The ultimate goal is to provide transparency for California voters when they go to vote during each election cycle. Far too often, we don't even know our State level representatives, and just pick randomly based on their brief summaries when voting.

This project will enhance the public's recognition of their State level representatives and will allow them to remember their names when it pertains to issues they care about.

E.G. You recently heard about a police reform bill that failed to pass, allowing officers who were fired for misconduct to freely obtain employment at another law enforcement agency. Whether you are in favor of it or not is not the issue, it is about knowing whether your representative voted the way you want (you know since they "represent" you).

I want this to remain party neutral since our goal is to just state the facts. Let the public decide if they agree with a specific law or not; we are just giving them the tools and convenience to make their decision.

Just as an FYI, I have conducted a few preliminary surveys for this to gain a sense of political leanings, and the vast majority of people hold relatively "Progressive" views when they read legal summaries without any political bias (even those claiming to be Conservative, Moderate, and Libertarian). It goes to show that much of our political leanings are team-based, and we root for a team regardless.

This project gets rid of that mentality and lets people vote on the core issues, as voting should be done.

If you are interested in helping me out with this, please sign up below. The initial plan is to summarize state bills and list votes in favor of and against.
